The Workshop

The workshop has been a bit out of control lately. We're working in a one-car garage. It's not ideal. Putting a car in there would be a complete joke.

Below is what it looks like on a normal day.

Yeah, I know...kinda ridiculous! Problem is...the garage houses our bikes (and we have a LOT of them), washer and dryer, all our tools, ladders, etc....One day...one day...I'll have a large, great big space!

The Workshop

We recently prepared our work space. We took Casey's den, filled with random odds and ends (think: drums, old computer desks, fish tank tables, a wheelchair...yes really...a wheelchair) and turned it into a great workshop.

We picked a fun color for an accent wall. We didn't want to be overwhelmed with color, but rather inspired. I think it's a very 70's funky vibe. The rest of the walls are a very light, simple gray. I think it's a nice contrast and makes the room look so different than it did before!

The desk was picked up at Ikea. It's one of those mix and match pieces they have where you choose the top and different legs. We wanted to be efficient and cost effective at the same time. We needed shelving, but also wanted a pop of color.

Since we are working out of Casey's house, some of the random items had to go back into the room. Luckily, the wheelchair did not make the cut. The drums and some musical art are inspiration for our projects.

Pictures to come!

Welcome

Welcome to Project Abbelene's new blog page! This blog will document Project Abbeilene from conception and will be updated frequently with progress and new ideas.

What is Project Abbelene?
Project Abbelene is a side-project/new business if you will. For me, it's a self exploratory exercise that will hopefully one day be successful.

What do I create?
I create custom wooden wall pieces and pillow covers that showcase life in general. Whether it's an expression of personal hobby or a tribute to a pet, I am exploring it all.

How did Project Abbelene come about?
I was looking for a birthday gift for my boyfriend when I realized what I was looking for really didn't exist. I thought it was a cool idea, but never even considered that I would create it myself. Money, resources and fear hindered my ideas. I threw the idea out to my boyfriend and he ran with it. He secretly bought all the supplies needed to start Project Abbelene. Thus it began.

Who am I?
I am a 20-something living in the burbs of Tampa. I am not artistic, nor very creative, I just have this crazy idea to create something I want to showcase in my own house. If people like what I do, even better! I have a miniature long-haired (double) dapple dachshund named Abbie, and a calico named Carly. In my spare time - that is when am not working at my full-time j-o-b or scribbling down ideas in my notepad - I am usually on the beach, paddle boarding, on a bike ride, fishing or hanging out with the wonderful, previously mentioned boyfriend.

Where did the name Project Abbelene come from?
My miniature dachshund Abbie, of course! She is the inspiration (and model) for this project.

When will I see some of Project Abbelene's designs.
Designs are in the works now. When this idea was just a thought, I knew nothing about using a saw, design software, heat presses, fabrics, etc. (Basically everything I needed to know to begin.) I started from scratch and did tutorials to learn.

Stay tuned as this project grows and grows!
